Dr. Steve Amaro has been a partner at Evergreen Veterinary Clinic since 1984. He was born and raised in New Orleans Louisiana and received his Veterinary degree from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation he participated in an internship and residency in Neurology at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. He has known he wanted to be a veterinarian since he was little and truly feels that it is the best profession anyone could do. If he wasn't a veterinarian he would be a teacher for children with special needs. Dr. Amaro is married with 2 children, one is currently attending the University of the Pacific and the other works as a receptionist at Evergreen. When not busy at Evergreen Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Amaro enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, cooking, playing golf and riding his Harley with his wife. He currently has 1 adopted dogs and 2 adopted cats from NARF.
Dr. Barbara Lee has worked at the Evergreen Veterinary Clinic since 1984 and is one of the partners in the clinic. She was born and raised in the Berkeley area and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from UC Berkeley. Upon graduating from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1984, Dr. Lee's first job took her to Evergreen where she has enjoyed veterinary practice since. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Nike Animal Rescue Foundation, is a volunteer veterinary consultant for WestieMed, and a member of the Furry Friends Pet Assisted Therapy Services. Dr. Lee is married and has a teenage daughter, along with five rescue dogs and cats.
Dr. David Louie was born and raised in foggy San Francisco. After graduating from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987, he moved south to warmer San Jose and practiced in several veterinary hospitals in the eastern San Jose area. Dr. Louie joined Evergreen Veterinary Clinic in February 2001. His special interests are internal medicine and surgery. When he is not at the hospital, you may find him running or skating the streets of San Jose, volunteering at his daughter's elementary school or even if you are lucky, dancing in a parade in Disneyland! He currently resides in the South Bay Area with his two daughters.
Dr. Monika Scott graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Being a California native, she returned to her home state soon after graduation to practice. She worked at Evergreen Veterinary Clinic from 2006 to 2009. After working on the central coast for several years, she returned home to Evergreen in 2016. Dr. Scott loves getting to know pets and their families. She believes in the human animal bond and hopes to protect and promote that bond through her role as a veterinarian. When not working she can be found spending time with her two and four legged family members, running and hiking.
Dr. Malena Arvizu grew-up in the out skirts of Gilroy. After high school she moved to the coast while she attended the University of California, Santa Cruz and received her bachelor's degree in biology. While she lived in Santa Cruz, she worked as a veterinary technician for several years. Dr. Arvizu then attended Oregon State University School of Veterinary Medicine in Corvallis and graduated from veterinary school in 2005. After spending one too many rainy and gray winters in the Pacific Northwest, she decided to come back to the South bay and has been here since graduation. In her spare time you may find Dr. Arvizu in the dance studio attending a ballet, jazz, or aerial dance class. She also enjoys traveling with her husband, whom she married in April 2006. Together, they have 2 cats and 1 turtle.
Dr. Susan Matre grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she decided in fourth grade that she wanted to be a veterinarian. She graduated from the veterinary college at the Ohio State University, where she developed a special interest in surgery. After spending a few years in Colorado, she moved to California in 1984. She worked in Milpitas for 25 years before joining the staff at Evergreen in 2009. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, wine tasting, and riding her horse. She lives with her husband and their two children, both in college. They share their home with a German Shepherd, a Beagle, a hermit crab and some tropical fish. They also have three horses at a boarding stable.
